- Strongly alkaline: Corrosive to metals. Toxic if swallowed. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.  

- Protective measures: Wear chemical-resistant gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. Use in a well-ventilated area.  

- Accidental exposure:  

  - Eyes/mucous membranes: Flush with copious water for 15+ minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.  

  - Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with soap and water.  

  - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth with water and consult a physician immediately.
